Xynthorion Biography
Xynthorion is my love letter to the 1980s. It’s a project born from my lifelong passion for new wave, dark wave, synth-pop, and post-punk, crafted to honor the music that shaped me while pushing it into the future.
My upcoming album 1983 is a deeply personal journey, one I’ve carried with me since I was a child. It’s for the 10-year-old boy who first discovered the magic of writing music, who dreamed in melodies and rhythms. This album tells his story through the highs and lows of relationships, the ache of heartbreak, the joy of finding love, and the beauty of building a life with the person who feels like home. It’s a tribute to the past, but also a celebration of how far I’ve come.
When you think of Xynthorion, I want you to picture this: it’s midnight in the 1980s, and you've randomly parked your car somewhere in Joshua Tree. Your friends are drinking and blasting Send Me an Angel by Real Life through the car speakers, but you're lying alone on top of the car, stargazing, lost in the vastness of the night sky. For a moment, it's just you and the universe, until the pull of the music and laughter brings you back down. You step off the car, join your friends, and lose yourself in the energey of the night, dancing under the desert sky as the music pulses through the speakers. The air is cool, the sky is endless, lost in the moment, lost in the music. That’s the vibe. It’s dark, it’s nostalgic, it’s alive.
Xynthorion isn’t just music, it’s a vibe. It’s the feeling of being transported to another time and place. This is my homage to the 80s, my tribute to the sounds and stories that have shaped me, and my invitation to you to step into this world with me.
Love, Joshua Martin
